Renewed in Mission: A Recap of Covenant Community Care’s Staff Renewal Day

At Covenant Community Care, our mission begins with our people—and Staff Renewal Day (SRD) is one of the most meaningful ways we live that truth. Held quarterly, SRD is a time for our staff to step away from the daily demands of clinic life to focus on spiritual renewal, team connection, and recommitment to the mission that brought us all here: to share God’s love through quality, compassionate health care for every person, regardless of their ability to pay.
SRD began when Covenant was founded more than two decades ago, with gatherings once held every ten days. In those early days, these regular times of prayer, planning, and connection helped shape the foundation of who we are—a faith-centered, mission-driven organization grounded in both service and community. While the pace of health care and our organization’s growth have changed over the years, the heart of SRD remains the same: taking time to pause, reflect, and strengthen our shared purpose.
This quarter’s SRD brought together staff from across Metro Detroit for a day filled with spiritual reflection, learning, and team building. Through guided devotionals, we reflected on what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ in our work and how every role—clinical or administrative—plays a vital part in the healing ministry of Covenant. Team-building activities encouraged laughter and collaboration, helping reconnect colleagues who don’t often get to work side by side. Educational sessions offered fresh insight into patient care, equity, and quality improvement—ensuring that as we grow in spirit, we also grow in skill.
As health centers everywhere face new challenges, from workforce shortages to shifting community needs, our Staff Renewal Day reminded us why we do what we do. It is in these moments of intentional reflection and togetherness that we find renewed energy and focus.
We began and ended this October’s Staff Renewal Day with prayer, gratitude, and a shared commitment to continue caring for our community with hope, humility, and heart. Covenant’s mission is more than words on a wall—it’s a living promise, carried out daily by our incredible staff. And on Staff Renewal Day, that promise feels stronger than ever.
