Mobile Dental Team Update

Covenant's School-Based Dental Team (SBDT) has been very busy as a result of our contract with Detroit Public Schools (DPS). We have added 13 new schools to our schedule. Prior to the contract, we had provided care for 5 schools, 58 head starts, and various community sites throughout Metro Detroit. We currently have 3 teams (a preventative team, a restorative team, and a head start team) providing Mobile Dental Care each day. To better meet the oral care needs of DPS, we now provide restorative services such as extractions and fillings to the school location in addition to preventive care (exams, x-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and sealants). In order to meet the demands of our busy schedule, our SBDT now utilizes the help of doctors and dental assistants from the Michigan Avenue and Moross clinics. This work could not be done without their help and support! Each week staff members rotate through our program so that we are able to meet the dental needs of our partners. We have great teamwork and collaboration within our dental family! Dr. Lynn and our administrative staff have been extremely supportive throughout this growth process. Our success would not be possible without their help and leadership. Covenant has come together to make this possible.
