Joy Southfield CDC Clean-Up Day

Covenant Community Care staff and board members joined Joy Southfield Community Development Corporation’s May 8 community clean-up. Covenant has enjoyed a seven-year partnership with Joy CDC, after taking over the services of the Juanita Reeves Free Clinic in the Cody-Rouge Community. Volunteers, including neighbors and other community representatives, gathered to help the organization prepare for their weekly, Tuesday afternoon summer Farmer’s Market. Activities included clearing trash and debris from the market staging area & clinic parking lot, preparing flowerbeds for fresh planting, weed removal, and hedge/lawn trimming.
Covenant's Chief Development Officer Samuel Young said of the event, “We’re extremely proud to partner with Joy Southfield CDC to help them prepare for what looks to be a wonderful season of Tuesday Farmer’s Market events. We’ve enjoyed a great relationship with the CDC Team and Board and hope to continue working with them on behalf of the community.” Covenant plans to be a part of the Tuesday Farmer’s Market throughout the summer, and on May 25, the first session, offered free COVID-19 vaccinations to residents attending the Market.
