Covenant Celebrates Joy Campus Ribbon-Cutting
On Wednesday, October 25, Covenant Community Care staff, supporters, partners and friends gathered to celebrate the opening of our new health center at 17625 Joy Road in Detroit's Cody-Rouge neighborhood. Joslyn Pettway, Covenant's CEO spoke with WYYZ Detroit about the clinic. “One of the true indicators of communities coming back is when they start to be empowered. And healthcare is one of those avenues. I know a lot of people feel the recovery of Detroit has been limited to certain areas. But we’re on Joy Road and Southfield Freeway, standing in a beautiful facility. So, it was really important to us that we invest in one of the neighborhoods of Detroit. And we’ve accomplished that..."
Covenant's new health center is now open for medical and counseling services and will eventually add much-needed, safety-net, restorative dental services. The campus includes an outdoor event plaza for community events and a universally accessible 0.25 mile walking trail.
Covenant thanks and acknowledges all those who contributed to the project, including Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Delta Dental Foundation, The Lloyd and Mabel Johnson Foundation, Trinity Health Livonia, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, The Carls Foundation, McGregor Fund, The Jewish Fund, Metro Health Foundation, Community Project Funding for the 13th Congressional District, and the State of Michigan. We also grateful for all of our Patronicity donors, including Marilyn Humphrey, Tim and Karen Hogan, UnitedHealthcare, Grace Community Church - Detroit, and Covenant Ministries of Benevolence.
